La gare Saint-Lazare [The Saint-Lazare Station]
After visiting Monet's garden in Giverny in 2009, I had a niche interest in impressionist painting techniques. This painting is a replica of his piece, La gare Saint-Lazare, painted in 1877. This painting explores the architectural geometries of the station 'shed' framing the background along with the concern of celebrating pure machines of the industrial revolution. Bringing together an abstract vision of colour, light, smoke and atmosphere which are carefully overlayed.
